Marker-3LISBON AND PORTO WAIT FOR YOU

Two cities, two rivers.

Lisbon of the seven hills, capital of the Pombaline buildings, a city full of light on the banks of the Tagus, with tiled façades and medieval narrow streets in the typical neighbourhoods of Alfama and Bairro Alto.

Climb up to the castle, enjoy the views and lose track of time at one of the many belvederes around the city. Take a ride on the tram and let yourself be inspired by the Tagus or, who knows, the melody of fado.

Marker-3JOURNEY TO THE CENTRO REGION OF PORTUGAL

Nature, culture and history, the 12 Historic Villages of Portugal are emblematic treasures full of history and heritage, lost in awe-inspiring landscapes that fascinate and indulge our senses.

Come to Almeida, Belmonte, Castelo Mendo, Castelo Novo, Castelo Rodrigo, Idanha-a-Velha, Linhares da Beira, Marialva, Monsanto, Piódão, Sortelha e Trancoso and discover castles, walls and watchtowers from which one can see medieval houses.

The Centro Region of Portugal has places of exception and not to be missed with the Serra da Estrela, the highest point of mainland Portugal, in the summer one can enjoy the freshness of the spring of two important rivers and in the winter the only ski slope in the country; the Côa Valley, considered the most important site with outdoor rock art; or the silence and the wild nature of the International Tagus Natural Park.

In the Centro Region there are exceptional pedestrian paths, mountain bike trails with stopping points with breath-taking views, historical and community villages that provide you with truly enriching cultural and personal experiences.

Make time for a walk or a bike ride on these streets from the time of the first kings of Portugal and taste some of the most characteristic regional products.

Marker-3NATURE AND BIODIVERSITY

Portugal, a small country, full of true sanctuaries that honour our fauna and flora and that have been preserved since the beginning of time.

Mountains, plains, beaches bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, rivers and their tributaries, fill this destination with experience options, making it ideal to enjoy nature and outdoor activities. Observation and contemplation of fauna and flora, sports and radical activities, there are several options.

The whole territory has great diversity of landscapes and nature, counting among others, a national park, parks and nature reserves that provide beautiful routes for walking and mountain biking. Serra da Freita, which has the geological phenomenon of the “Pedras Parideiras”, is unique in the world or the Natural Park of Montesinho that is part of the “Terra Fria Transmontana” and provides beautiful routes for walking or mountain biking.

Marker-3BAIRRADA – VINEYARD REGION OF PERSISTENT WINES

It was, in the past, a land of passage and conquest, of struggles between Christians and Arabs at the time of the formation of Portugal, when the capital of the kingdom was Coimbra and the way to the affirmation was the south.

It was also a land of defending the independence threatened by the invading armies of Napoleon, detained in the mountain range of Bussaco. Today it is a region that remains central.

However, its vineyard landscape has serenely watched all these convulsions of the past, because its fruits have always been appreciated. Today the wines of Bairrada continue to be resistant, with body and character.

The cuisine of this region is also strong and needs a wine that goes with it, that in the end cleans the mouth, the “baga”, vineyard with its origin in Bairrada, plays its role well.

Marker-3DOURO IS NOT A VINEYARD REGION, IT IS A POEM TO ITS PEOPLE

“The sublimated Douro. The prodigy of a landscape that ceases to be so by the force of being undone. It is not a panorama that the eyes contemplate: it is an excess of nature. Terraces that are footprints of titanic men climbing the slopes, volumes, colours and modulations that no sculptor, painter or musician can translate, horizons dilated beyond the plausible limits of vision. A virginal universe, as if it had just been born, and already eternal for harmony, for serenity, for silence that not even the river dares to break, either sneaking away behind the hills, or in the background reflecting his own astonishment. A geological poem. The absolute beauty.” Miguel Torga

Marker-3ALENTEJO

… FULL OF HIDDEN SECRETS

Alentejo, although very rich, has in itself many secrets kept, such as the Alandroal where time almost stopped, Monsaraz, a pearl of Alentejo, as if almost touching the stars, on top of its more than 300m of altitude, dominates the surrounding plain.

To know this region we must feel it, the Alentejo and Vicentine Coastline is one of the best preserved in the whole Europe. Breath-taking beaches, imposing cliffs, biodiversity, an authentic culture and a mild climate make Southwestern Portugal a nature tourism destination.

… BEST VINEYARD REGION TO VISIT

There is something profoundly reminiscent and liberating in the Alentejo landscape, in the endless space, in the immensity of the undulant plains, in the wide sky of an immaculate blue, in the infinite horizon… and in the people, in the quiet and proud people of Alentejo.

Maybe that’s why this has been voted as the best wine region in the world to visit, in a poll promoted by USA TODAY.

The landscape runs smoothly between the vineyard and the cereal fields, painted in deep green in the end of winter, or straw-coloured in the end of spring, or ochre in the hot summer months. The unmistakable lines of cork oaks and holm oaks marks the horizon.
